Save the Vulcan Update:

It has been a while since the last Vulcan XH558 update, so have a read and get yourself updated!

The aircraft is now doing some of its functional tests. The fuel systems and tanks have now been checked, invariably there were some leaks but they have now almost been resolved. The under carriage has been tested, which also produced some minor leaks that needed to be fixed. The cockpit is now nearly complete; all of the instrumental panels have been fitted, connected and some have been pressure tested.

The Vulcan will move one step closer to flight this Thursday when she starts rigorous testing of her four Rolls-Royce Olympus engines.

Since the aircraft landed at Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome in 1993, the goal has been to restore Avro Vulcan XH558 to flight. Engineering work began in earnest just over two years ago with it now well in the final stages of what has been a unique, complex and intensive journey, involving not only the team at Bruntingthorpe, but hundreds of people in the very many companies contributing to the project.

This precursor activity to the aircraft's first flight will herald an exciting time for everyone involved with the project, not to mention the 22,000 Vulcan to the Sky Friends and members of the Vulcan to the Sky Club, and many hundreds of thousands of other supporters around the world

About the Vulcan:

Avro Vulcan XH558 is the only surviving example of Britain's Cold War V-Bomber fleet that is capable of being returned to flight! The Vulcan To The Sky Trust is a registered charity dedicated to seeing this magnificent aircraft returned to the skies. Last used in the Falklands the Vulcan travelled 4,000 miles out of its usual reach in order to bomb an airbase subsequently preventing aerial attacks on the Falkland Islands.

About the Charity:

The Vulcan to the Sky (charity Number: 1101948, Vulcan to the Sky Trust number: 4478686) volunteers on this project have worked for 14 years to restore the XH558 to flight condition, and with a realistic chance to appear in the 2007 Air Display's they have hit a final funding problem. We need to give the dedicated Vulcan supporters the money they need in order to preserve this amazing piece of Britain's Heritage. The funds have all been raised thanks to the extensive campaigning of these volunteers and the time they have dedicated to this project. They are located in Buntingthorpe and welcome your comments and visits. See here for more information about the charity.

About the Us:

We are a small, friendly, wine merchants based in Spalding, Lincolnshire. We have produced personalised wine for many clients in the past, including Coca Cola and Natwest, however our ties to the RAF through the companies owner have lead to this cause becoming the biggest priority at present. By combining what we do best with the needs of this charity it has been agreed that 100% of the profits raised will be given to the Vulcan to the Sky project.
